This is a tough book to review because the MC (Nora) is so awkward. I don’t know how else to describe her, really. She’s very emotionally challenged. So in that regard, it’s an interesting character sketch because she’s so unlike most characters I read. But it was kind of cringey because she’s childlike at times and her interest in Mimi seems more maternal than sexual. I couldn’t understand why Mimi wanted to be with Nora outside of her physical looks; so the chemistry wasn’t there for me. It’s an age-gap and insta-love on two accounts that felt forced. I also thought all the characters were immature when it came to gossip. One thing I really did enjoy though was the juxtaposition of a wonderful found family with a healthy family of origin- we got both which caused friction between the MC’s but also was helpful to read and thoughtfully done. I think Imani is the unsung heroine of this book. It was also fun to see the other characters from Bliss Verse pop up-especially Stella and Kate from Family Affair.

Short Summary: Nora is one of the biggest celebrities in Hollywood but unbeknownst to anyone, but her two best friends, is also a major recluse. Enter Mimi, the CEO of the production company of Nora’s popular TV show. Nora can’t resist Mimi’s kind, sweet way with her and Nora finds herself breaking her 20 year (you read that right) dry spell and attempting a relationship with Mimi. But can quiet, reserved, rigid Nora open herself up enough for the gregarious mother of 4?
