This was easier to review after finishing book 2 (Chaos Agent). While it is a story unto itself, it also feels like just the beginning. Eden is a charming character with a brilliant mind. I enjoyed following her scavenger hunt and watching how it all played out- very clever. Meanwhile, Michelle is an ice queen- cold and aloof but warmed-slightly-by Eden. I didn’t remember much from Red Files but luckily enough context is provided. We get a small peek into Michelle’s organization but mostly we’re just told that it’s evil (we get more in book 2!). Everyone is calling this a slow burn but I have to say, I didn’t feel much chemistry at all between the MCs..happy to say that changes in Chaos Agent (review coming Thursday).

Short summary: Eden is an activist for good. Michelle is hired mostly for evil. Their paths cross, a hunt ensues, and the two grow closer than might be good for either of them.
