I went back and forth on liking this one but I also couldn’t put it down. It’s sarcastic and funny but also very seriously an allegory for sexual assault, which I think the author handles extremely well. One thing I couldn’t understand is why many of the characters smoke regularly. Maybe to show we all have a vice?? Part of the story is second chance romance- I felt the chemistry and Ian is a portrayal of a wonderful man, but I wasn’t convinced why he would like Rory other than the text saying he does. I was convinced of the bond between Rory and her twin sister with all its beauty and messiness. Overall, an honest look at feminism and complicated female relationships.
Short summary: Rory returns to her suffocatingly small hometown to support her sister through the last few months of pregnancy. She’s not home for long before she survives an attack that she soon realizes was a werewolf..which means she’s now a werewolf, and a journey of def discovery and transformation ensues.
