Though I don’t read many mysteries, I’m a huge Lee Winter fan so I thought I’d give this a shot and I’m so glad I did! I loved Lauren’s feistiness – she jumped off the page fully formed and I wish we could be friends. We don’t get Catherine’s perspective though which is a shame, but does make her more mysterious. She seems like a complex character and I wanted to know more about her – like why is her home a fortress? Apart from that, my only complaints were that certain things started to feel repetitive (like the label “Caustic Queen”), and the age gap didn’t feel like a gap apart from Catherine having more contacts (but maybe that’s because we don’t have her voice). On the whole, I loved the mystery, loved their chemistry, and loved the side characters. Definitely looking forward to reading Under Your Skin!

Short Summary: Fiery journalist Lauren is chomping at the bit for a more substantive job than LA’s party scene. When a story sparks her interest and that of her icy but intriguing older colleague (Catherine), the two embark on a thrilling adventure to solve the case before it catches them.
