This story was moving. I laughed out loud, I nearly cried, it’s a book with soul, and I kept turning the pages. The spotlight on psychological abuse in a book like this that will reach so many people is so important. I also loved that there’s a minor character that “normalizes” gay marriage. The only thing I had a hard time with was the voice- it’s 2 POVs both in first person and they were too similar, sometimes I forgot whose chapter I was in. But on the whole, this book swept me away. Both characters had so much heart and tremendous chemistry. Despite their odds, I was rooting for them and the ending is so satisfying. And, I’m so glad Bri’s getting her own book- will definitely be looking out for that next year.
Good line: “Sometimes what you have to give is enough. Even if it’s a rock instead of a diamond.”
Short summary: A near miss with a raccoon causes polished, ER doc Alexis to run into a ditch subject to the kind mercy of handsome, rugged Daniel. The two hit it off in a nearby bar and a one night stand leads to thinking about each other more than they should. But the two are from opposite worlds that can’t intersect and have too much to lose to reverse course. Can they overcome the odds or will they keep it a long distance fling?
