I love a good sports story and the soccer/football in this one was great! The romance, less so. I had a really hard time getting into the story. It picked up around 60%, but the angsty part was all miscommunication and poor decisions, which is not my thing. I also wish the characters had both been British since Sloane’s language didn’t ring true to me as American and took me out of the story. Ella was sweet, but unfortunately, this missed the mark for me on a few levels.

Short summary: Sloane arrives in the UK with a great new soccer contract and a rocky engagement. One sticks, the other doesn’t, and she quickly realizes Ella is the antidote to it all. But Ella has reservations since Sloane’s contract is only a year.
