A modern day Juliet & Juliet story with a family feud over pastelitos. It’s an enemies to lovers with the sharp dialogue you’d expect but surprisingly low angst. I liked both characters and thought they had great chemistry but some of the scenes didn’t do it for me, there were places the story didn’t go as far as I wanted, and when the romance happened it was too fast for me even though it made sense with the story. It’s cute though and I suspect what bothered me won’t bother others. I like JJ Arias’ writing and would recommend her books.

Short Summary: Born into feuding families, Lauren and Sylvie are natural enemies. In their 30’s now, the women are positioned to take over their respective family’s bakery and refuse to be bested by the other. But Lauren is over the fighting and Sylvie learns a secret that challenges everything she thought she knew. The two women start to see what’s always been in front of them.
