This is a tough one to review. On the one hand, I had a hard time putting it down and the steamy scenes were on fire. On the other hand, the mystery part of the story was very confusing, Arden’s past relationship went on for too long, some things were a bit too cliche for me, and the relationship seemed a bit fast and close to co-dependency. But on the other hand, I love this trope, and it did keep me turning the pages. Also it’s like a love letter to Chicago, so if you’re a fan of the Windy City, it’s worth picking up this book.

Short summary: after being injured in the line of duty, Arden is back home healing, until her best friend convinces her to take a job as a bodyguard for celebrity. Alluring and stunning, Evelyn is difficult to work with and harder to guard, and Arden has her work cut out for her. An unfortunate event causes Evelyn to open up to Arden and an attraction starts to simmer. Can each woman get beyond her past, and through her present, to have a future with each other?
