It’s hard to rate this book because it was such a trip. Reading it was like going for a ride and getting tossed around a bit…you have to get back on but you’re not sure you should. On the one hand, I wanted to know what happened and the author does a great job raising the stakes without telling us who’s dead. On the other hand, it was so nuts and ultimately, for me, hard to believe. Also I felt there was a lot of telling about each character and I kind of wanted to dig in a little more. But I couldn’t put it down. No queer rep.

Short summary: all Heather wants is for her girls to have what she didn’t: horses. So when her husband makes it big, Heather moves the family to California and joins the swankiest barn. She’s living the dream until she begins to realize that riding is actually pretty dangerous…
