Damn. Another romance that made me cry. This book is so beautiful - not just the love story but the family story woven throughout of the boys and their mom. The romance is palpable and sexy, but so is the coming of age. It’s a second chance, friends to lovers story that goes between past and present to reveal why they broke up and what happens when they reconnect. The one thing that really bothered me and kept it from 5 stars is the long wait to find out why they broke up. It felt like too much of a long tease that became annoying, though the reveal was satisfyingly soul-destroying. Definitely recommend this one but note the present story centers around Sam’s mom’s funeral which is sufficiently sad. If you like this and want something less sad, check out Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan when it comes out this June.

Short summary: Percy returns to Barry’s Bay 12 years after leaving heartbroken to attend Sam’s mother’s funeral. She’s nervous to see Sam, the boy she’s loved since 13, after what happened between them, but more scared not to.
