There is so much Joy in this book! Which Christmas is better- New York City or Vermont? That’s the goal of the bet Ava and Bex make and the result is a glorious story of a holiday well celebrated whether you’re in a rural or urban area. There are nods to holiday movies of all kinds, and other cultures too. The best is that the scrooging is left out. The tension is natural and earnest, not manufactured for angst’s sake. It’s cheesy but perfectly so. I was definitely rooting for the characters, who had plenty of chemistry. This is the perfect book to get in the holiday spirit.

Short summary: City mouse Bex and country mouse Ava make a bet about whose Christmas is more magical. As they spend more and more time together, it becomes clear there’s something magical between them too.
