Another great story in Bliss Verse. Celebrity romance + second chance? Fan me, please. Harper Bliss is so good at writing chemistry and Abby Craden is so good at voicing it! This book was like a masterclass in communication. I loved how these women listened to each other and themselves and considered everything before succumbing to lust. Their maturity made the story sexier. I also loved the wonderful sibling relationship and parental relationships between Sadie and her dad, and Devon and her mom. Them I wanted a little more backstory on Sadie’s divorce, and a little more from Finn’s character in their relationship. But I did really appreciate the co-parenting example of Devon and Hunter - so beautiful. Last thing I’ll say- the author fully commits to the surfing metaphors and it’s a beautiful thing to see them woven throughout.

Short summary: When celebrated TV actress, Sadie, returns home for her 40th birthday, she gets a much bigger present than she bargained for- loving family and her childhood best friend. For Devon, Sadie is the one who got away. Sadie is straight and despite getting to know each other again, Devon won’t let her heart go there. But when it comes to Sadie, it’s hard to say no.
